Racial Issues
this article is explaining the role that privilege plays in society. It uses explains such as racial profiling. The example that is given here is considering shopping in a store without the fear of being followed or buying a house in an area that you can afford without the consideration of your race. Furthermore, this reading goes into depth about how privilege is a larger factor in the school system. It explains the disproportionate disciplinary outcomes in schools and the importance of evaluating implicit bias in the context of vulnerable decision points that are highly susceptible to an individual’s conscious bias.

This reading is about people who make statements that they don’t see colour. The author explains that when you don’t see colour, “you don’t see or hear me” (referring to herself as a black woman). This article is a great read for someone who may not understand the role that race plays for many Black and people of colour.
